SEA WIFE

SEA WIFE

by Amity Gaige

I borrowed Sea Wife from my mom the minute she finished reading it because she strongly endorsed Gaige as a writer (read review of Heartwood here) and particularly this book. Gaige drew me in immediately with her premise of a family of four leaving their lives behind to sail around the Caribbean for a year.   She expertly brings the children, only two and seven, to life and reminded me of my own wild ones of the same age. Gaige explores marriage with truth and insight and looks at the choices we make, right and wrong, to sustain the partnership. But the best part about Sea Wife is how Gaige unfolds the mystery of what went wrong on the voyage and who is to blame. She keeps you guessing until the very last page. (Lily)
